Come with us high into the clouds as we explore the archaeological wonder of Machu Picchu. Built by the Inca in the 15th and 16th centuries, this sacred site of religious, cultural, architectural and artistic importance was “lost” to the world for centuries. We’ll use nearby Cuzco as our base to explore the area, including traditional markets, the fortress, other nearby historic sites, and of course, the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. Christmas Markets in Europe bring the magic of the holiday season to life. City centers are aglow with festive lights, as the scent of mulled wines and gingerbread fills the air. We encounter Christmas market in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, a medieval walled city in Germany and home to one of Käthe Wohlfahrt's Christkindlmarkts. In Strasbourg, we explore a Christmas market (since 1570) and are introduced to the historic "La Petite Strasbourg" quarter. We drive throught the Black forest to Austria. Salzburg delights us with the Mirabel Gardens, Mozart's Birth House, and the grand cathedral. Our journey ends in Munich, with a trip to Weihenstephan Brewery, where monks started brewing their own beer over 1000 years ago.
