2020 Oberammergau Passion Play Tours
Corona Virus: On Thursday, March 19, we received word from the Passion Play committee that the 2020 play would be postponed until 2022. You can read the letter here. Thank you in advance for your patience as we deal with the implications of this message. We anticipate reaching out to group leaders and individual clients in the order of trip travel (i.e. we will process May, then June, etc). For all groups, we are offering the opportunity to rebook for 2022 or other options such as travel excluding the play. The Passion Play committee has mentioned April 6 as when they will have more information on how to rebook, cancel, etc. so we anticipate knowing more at that time. Martin Luther & Oberammergau Tour • June 14 - 25, 2020

Join us on an exploration of the life of Martin Luther, visiting the sites that played a key part in the development of his Faith. We’ll see a placard of his thesis posted on the door to the church where they were first exhibited. We’ll tour the city where he was born – and also died. We’ll tour the castles, churches and villages that gave him shelter, sanctuary and inspiration throughout his life. Then, we’ll continue into the Rhine Valley and Romantic Road, where we will enjoy a cruise, winery visit, the half-timbered town of Rothenberg and other historic sites. Our tour concludes with the Oberammergau Passion Play and a day in charming Munich.

In the Footsteps of Luther and the Passion Play • June 16 - 27, 2020

Pastor Terri Stagner-Collier will host this 12-day exploration of the major Luther historical sites, the Passion Play in Oberammergau, and a few Germany highlights. In addition to the historical and cultural insights provided by our professional tour guides, Pastor Terri will also lead us in scripture study, worship and song. This tour has been custom designed to strike a balance between group site-seeing and down-time to explore (or rest) on your own! Martin Luther’s journey of faith grew from a tentative novitiate full of questions and doubt to that of a passionate and courageous reformer, deeply grounded in God’s grace and the truth of Scripture. This tour will not only explore the sites and history of Luther’s life, but his theological journey as well. The Passion Play in Oberammergau will be the pinnacle of our travels, as we too experience anew the life-changing gift of God’s grace made known on the cross. All are welcome!

The Romantic Road in Germany ties some of the country’s most iconic sites and treasured historical elements into one story for us all to enjoy. We’ll start with the perennial favorites of the castle-town Heidelberg and half-timbered Rothenberg. We’ll then move through Bavaria to see the fairy-tale castle at Neuschwanstein and take a cable car for a view of the highest point in Germany. We’ll see another of King Ludwig’s ornate castles at Linderhof, before spending the full day in the painted town of Oberammergau to see the once a decade performance of the Passion Play. We have a final day to take in the delights of Munich before ending with a robust German beer hall farewell dinner. This is a week that will inspire dreams for years to come.
